Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Winner (Telugu) Review

Lately, I have realized that the Telugu cinema audience are not rejecting typical commercial movies in the search of that perfect mass masala entertainer with the right formula, unlike me. So owing to that realization I have increased my tolerance towards the in your face commercial cinema and altering my review methodology instead of out right rejecting a non-perfect commercial cinema.

Winner has a very different story like most of the Gopichand Malineni's movies. But his execution and predictable narration are the main drawbacks for him. Winner movie too has all those pitfalls. It falls then picks itself up, then falls again and then picks itself up again and somehow manages to stay afloat till the end. It has a good looking actress in Rakul who does not shy away from looking hot. So that is a plus for any commercial cinema and I am not complaining either. Then we have a hero Sai Dharam Tej who somehow before our eyes within a span of 3 to 4 movies grew up to the level of shouldering the movie completely. He can dance, mouth dialogues like Chiru and Pawan, fight well like all the top league heroes and he now started managing the acting part just alright too. Then in his usual style the director adds three different comedians to justify the words comic relief. Add to all these, some been there heard that song kind of songs from Thaman which luckily have the likes of Rakul and Anasuya glamming them up. And like I said earlier SDT can dance well too. Main drawback of the movie is inept handling of sentiment and emotional scenes. 

All in all, all my rant is to convey that this is not my type of perfect commercial movie but until we find such one this may very well be used as a make do alternative. It might not be perfect but the story points are not cliched at least.
