Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. The Good Lie

There are movies that make you cry and you love them. And then there are movies that just choke you up so much that you do not want to watch that movie again. The Good Lie is latter.

This is a story that needs to be told on a bigger platform and make it reach many more people. You just can not read a wiki article on Lost boys of Sudan and comprehend their plight as much as you can by watching this movie. There are two reasons to watch such movies. One to know their life's story and show empathy for them. Two is to know their life's story and become thankful for yours.

The major complaint on the movie is that it did not need Reese Witherspoon to tell the story it needed to tell. As a matter of fact, the story could have been easily told without any American pivotal roles. May be they needed some faces to sell the movie to the audience. But it became a problem because the roles do not carry any weight and do not help take the story forward. They just eat up the screen time and make proceedings slow. No I am not saying that it was not good to see Reese Witherspoon after a long time. I am just saying not in this movie.
