Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Dhruva

As many of you know, Dhruva is an official remake of Thani Oruvan. Thani Oruvan is a very good content based movie. The makers of Dhruva did a very good thing by not changing much. Both the original and Dhruva might not be perfect movies technically as in there are inconsistencies in pacing, editing, lip sync issues etc but the story of the movie is much more superior and so makes up for all the shortcomings. Ram Charan, you can finally say, has arrived. He added value to this remake with his hard work, good dances in songs and decent subtle acting. Rakul Preet is another value add. She is very good looking in the movie, acted good and looked hot in songs. Aravind Swamy, who acted in the original, repeated the same magic here. He is very good. Dubbing by Hemachandra for Aravind Swamy is very good and how Hema changed his tone to sound stylishly menacing is very impressive. Rest of the cast is apt. Music is a major highlight of the movie. I expected Surender Reddy to add his magic to the movie but he did that by not changing much and retaining the beauty of the original.

Overall, post Magadheera, if there is a Ram Charan movie that is a must watch, this is it. Go watch it at least for a very good content based movie, if not for Ram Charan.
