Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Dilwale - movie Review

If you have seen the trailer of Dilwale and guessed it's story then yes you guessed it right. It is a mix of Hum, K3G and many more with scenes taken from MI2, Love Actually, Fast and furious etc sprinkled all over. And no that is not my complaint. That is expected from Rohit Shetty's writing. What worried me a lot is that with a title like Dilwale the movie actually is emotionally very superficial even for Rohit Shetty's standards. First half is the most inefficient writing ever done on the magical couple SRK-Kajol. They just could not make it work.  Even SRK's role is very unconvincing. It is a role with mix of romance and Dongiri both of which are his fortes but inefficient writing spoiled it. Second half is usual Rohit Shetty brand comedy with few good emotional scenes. Action episodes are another drawback that too in a Rohit Shetty movie with SRK's budget. Kriti looked good and did pretty well. Varun bordered on overacting in some scenes and did good in emotional scenes. Overall first half is pretty boring and second half is time pass. Watch it for SRK-Kajol, good songs and decent comedy in second half. I would rate Happy new year above this.
