Joru: Sundeep Kishan,
Rashi Khanna, Sapthagiri and also Brahmanandam cannot save this blasphemy of a
movie. But it is a very good lesson for future directors on how to take their
audience for a ride and also their producers.
Fury: There have
been numerous movies on war in USA. Fury lead by Brad Pitt does not try to
achieve anything new or path breaking. It just tries to tell a war story in
most simple way. Yes there are some nice war action episodes and well supported
by good cast. But at the end, it is just another war movie with nothing new in
it.
Lucy: A good
concept, nice action, Scarlett Johansson, too many cool time lapse shots but
one over-achieving director messes it up. At the very beginning the movie
reminds us of many Jason Statham movies. Scarlett was apt for the role but soon
the movie tries to become a Nolan movie or a Ridley movie which is no easy
feat. But you would wish if only the director could pull it off as easily as
either Nolan or Ridley. He fails but the does not kill the movie as a whole. It
is plainly a movie where the lead role uses her 100% of the cerebral capacity
but we can watch it using 0% of ours and term it as popcorn scifi flick. Don’t expect wonders.
Predestination: Time
travel is a pretty interesting premise. Right from Spielberg, many tried their
hands at it. Most of them stuck to the belief of alternate timelines.
Predestination deals with a time loop that is gonna blow your mind. Sit through
the lengthy conversation at the beginning of the movie and it would all make
sense slowly. Watching the movie for first 15 minutes can make you easily guess
most of the twists but it is not about the twists. It is about the concept of
time travel that is awesome. So watch it.
Hunger Games 3:
Mocking Jay Part 1: To be frank I never liked the first two and I was not
bound to like this one. But one thing I admire about this series is the concept
of revolution very well put through for this generation that call themselves
rebels(against parents) but hardly connect to the concept of revolution. So it
is good that such book was written and such movie is being made. And I cannot
stop myself from thinking what was going through the naturally humorous Jennifer
Lawrence’s mind while uttering the most hilariously stupid dialogues in the
movie and yet utter them so convincingly. That’s the other thing I like about
this series, JLaw and her conviction over the stupid setup of the whole Hunger
Games. Watch it for JLaw or if you liked first two.
Pataas: Temper
movie has almost the same storyline as Pataas. Pataas goes about it in a comedy
tone while Temper is very serious. Pataas is a family friendly and kid friendly
fun film with no boring moments. Kalyan Ram surprisingly improved by leaps and
bounds in this movie. He fitted the canvas of that comedy Cop role to the T. Everything
about the movie is right in place except for the actress. Watch it for a full
paisa vasool experience. Race Gurram and now Pataas are perfect examples of a
well made commercial movies. And in my personal opinion a true triumph of
cinema is a well made commercial cinema but not an Oscar winning one.
