Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Kotha Janta - Review

Bad news first. I think I am used to watching Allu Sirish now. I did not mind him in the movie at all. Now the good news, movie is at most average and even Sapthagiri could not save it. Coming from Maruthi, this movie for a change does not have vulgarity except for one or two scenes where it is very subtle. But post Prema Katha Chitram, audience expected another laugh riot from Maruthi-Sapthagiri combo and they will surely be disappointed. It is only for few minutes Sapthagiri entertains but after that we will have to deal with another 2 hours of the movie when it is busy going through the most cliched ego-clashed-love story. What is irritating most in the movie is(No not Allu Sirish's face) but the word "selfish" being used in every dialogue to establish the character of the hero. He for one, pays the restaurant bill while other two bail out, gets his friends jobs, does not want to depend on his grand father's money but yet over usage of the word "selfish" is somehow supposed to establish that he is selfish. Regina's change of heart and transforming from a selfish to non-selfish person is not established except for her shouting out that she changed from selfish to non-selfish couple of times and may be more during the times I dozed off in second half. If you are a Maruthi fan, this is not his best. If you are a Regina fan, she was better in Routine Love Story. If you are a Sapthagiri fan, watch Prema Katha Chitram again but if you are a Allu Sirish fan, watch this one for sure.
