Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. 1-Nenokkadine review

No, this is not a remake or freemake of any kind. As far as my knowledge goes no scenes were also lifted. Moving on, 1 is not our average Telugu cinema. Everything and every frame of the movie is very fresh and new. Shot making, action scenes, songs, script etc all are very fresh. Sukumar as always comes up with a different story. First half is more like a psychological thriller like some Tamil movies. Barring few lengthy episodes in Goa, 1st half is top notch and raises expectations. Second half starts off slow, picks up pace and then slows down till the end. I feel more focus should have been given to screenplay in second half. Again technically second half is also few notches above rest of the Telugu cinema. But the basic motto of a thriller, to keep the audience on the edge of their seats, is lost. Mahesh toned his physique well for the role. No six pack abs but some nicely toned biceps are the USP of the film :) Kriti is good in her role, acted pretty well for a new comer and looked hot where needed. Songs are let down in terms of dances. Only one step by Mahesh is good. Gautham, son of Mahesh comes through out the movie and he was ok. Background music by DSP is pretty good. Overall Mahesh, Novelty in script, BGM by DSP and Kriti are the plus points of the movie while the slow narration in second half is a major minus. In other words 1 aims to be a Suryah's Ghajini range movie but falls few steps ahead of 7th sense.
