Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Atharintiki Daaredi - Review

Let me start off by saying that I have never cried in a Pawan Kalyan movie even though I am his fan. This time though I could not resist. The scene of "Naidu gaaru meeru bathakaali" in Gabbar Singh was just the tip of the iceberg that you get to see in Atharintiki Daaredi climax.

Moving on from the personal achievements, lets talk about the movie. Story is simple and screenplay is half baked with Gudumba Shankar, Ready and Dookuduish comedy threads in second half. These evoke enough laughter that make you forget why that scene even happened in first place. Gowthamudu-Ahalya and baba scene are hilarious, even though the former scene becomes a bit stretched. Then comes the Eddie Murphy's A thousand words inspired scene and why that scene? Your guess is as good as mine. Coming to songs "Aaradugula bullet" is a very different intro song, little bit on lines of Jalsa song, which was used in climax in Jalsa."Kaatam rayuda",  "Its time to party" and "Ninnu choodagaane" are good but rest of the songs can be avoided. "Baapu gaari bomma" has little to zero choreography. "Kirraku" is good in pieces. Praneetha is decent and Samantha is super cute in Amnesia episode. And oh yeah, forgot to say, Pawan Kalyan is the hero of the movie. And somehow that makes up for all the negatives above. No this is not me as a fan speaking. For a change Pawan Kalyan plays it to the entire gallery than just the "Pawanism-cult" section. He carried the movie gracefully on his "bhujaskandhaalu". He makes you jump with joy, enjoy some cheeky lines, laugh till it hurts and cry too. Coming to action, forget the movies Athadu, Jalsa, Khaleja's action. This movie's action is no where a match. Very mediocre compared to Trivikram and also Pawan's benchmarks. For the first time after becoming director, Trivikram has gone down as a director and little bit as a writer but Pawan steps up and rises to the occasion making Atharintiki daaredi a winner. Overall a good first half, intermittently "hilarious" second half and a brilliant climax episode. You walk out satisfied yet thinking of so many permutations and combinations on how Trivikram could have satisfied you more. Pawan leaves no room for complaints except that he looked out of shape in Italy episodes.
