Family Man 2 on Amazon Prime - Series Review
Who needs to watch this?
If you have seen Family Man season one and was totally bowled over by it or if you have not seen Family Man yet and reading this review or Manoj Bajpai's fans.
Why you need to watch this?
Manoj Bajpai, Raj and DK, Manoj Bajpai, Samantha, Manoj Bajpai, Priymani, Manoj Bajpai, Sharib Hashmi, Manoj Bajpai.
Family Man Season one almost single handedly put Indian Web Series on World OTT map. And when the makers announced the name of Samantha for season two, the hype shot through the sky. But for now let's keep Samantha's name aside.
Family Man two comfortably starts where it left off in season one. The characters are reintroduced in smaller changes in setups. Srikanth is in IT, Suchi stopped working, TASC is without Srikanth etc. But you know it will all change and it takes few episodes. From then on the usual cat and mouse game between the cops and the LTTE(I assume). Srikanth's daughter's episode too acts just as a filler. You see that coming too right from the beginning.
Family Man 2 hardly has any fireworks like the first one and political satires have become so subtle. very unlike Raj and DK. But there are pieces of brilliance in this. The initial reveal of Samantha is one, then the Police station single take shot, Samantha Chase shot and climax shooting shot. The single take shots achieved in this season speak volumes about the technical crew.
Now coming to Samantha, I felt she was very underutilized. She improved a lot from the days of 10 Endrathukulla's negative role. She is okay in this one but her role is only half developed. Besides her Manoj as usual shines bright and shoulders the season well. Rest of the supporting cast is apt.
Overall, Family Man Season Two falls below expectations and remains just an average fare.
