Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Never Have I Ever : Season One - Web Series Review

Crossover stories are a good meat for content and when you make it about multi-culture clash it had many a times given a good output. Be it My big fat greek wedding, Bend it like Beckham, Harold and Kumar and very recently Crazy Rich Asians. But there have also been wannabes that could not leave any mark. Never Have I Ever falls somewhere in between.

NHIE tries hard to be the new generation romcom but the moment you remove the Indian angle from it, it becomes just a passable romcom with so many cliches. Do not get me wrong. I am not calling it bad. I am just not calling it great either. It's alright. Its a mix of whatevers and WTFs and zero OMGs.

The premise of this series is its biggest pitfall. The moment you show school and teenagers, every Netflix watching audience will connect to 13 reasons why. And this series in so many ways is anti-13 reasons why. And in a way that kills the fun out of this guilty pleasure watch of a show.

The three actors playing Devi, Eleanor and Fabiola are perfect and suit the role. They did very well to convey what their roles stood for. But rest of the characters are under-developed. The desi accents were so wrong and it was a mood killer in some scenes.

Overall, during these times, if you are looking to kill sometime, pick this. Otherwise you ain't missing much.
