Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Yatra - Review

Let me get the first question out of the way. How is the movie? Yatra is a very well made movie. If you are a fan of YSR you will love this.

Now coming to the main and most important point for this biopic-crazy generation. Yatra suffers from the same problem like Hindi biopic, Sanju, white-washing the tarnished image of the central character. There is a scene in the beginning of the movie that highlights and elevates the faction image of the YSR lineage. That is morally wrong in a biopic. Then there are multiple scenes mocking all the political parties to elevate YSR. A humble request to biopic film makers is that, for the love of cinema, when you make a biopic please refrain from bad mouthing other people. It is the same in Sanju, NTR Kathanayakudu and now this Yatra. That is bad film-making.

Now coming back to the movie, Mammootty, take a bow. The acting he did in the role can become a textbook for any aspiring biopic actors. He doesn't shed a tear in any scene but will make you emotional. Writing, direction and dialogues are top notch. The last 10 seconds of the movie is a gross injustice to the whole movie and the hard work done by the team and that is purely my opinion.

Overall, Yatra is a well made movie, but morally wrong.
