Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Room - Review

Room is based on many real life kidnap stories. But what makes Room stand apart is it's viewpoint, emotional content and humane story telling for a kidnap story. Firstly about the Academy Award winner for this role, Brie Larson. She is spot on in that role of a mother(Ma) torn between the frustration from being captive and being the only hope for her son. Secondly the kid, his cuteness will tug at the heartstrings for sure in some scenes. There are some plain awesome brilliant scenes in this movie and you can watch the movie for those. The movie is not a tragedy but a little depressing knowing that this was based on true stories. The scenes where Jack starts playing with Legos in his "wardrobe", where he starts crying for Ma in the cop car, scenes where Ma tries to make the living in the room a delight for Jack, where he feels scared looking at his mom in the bathroom, how he holds onto his mom's tooth and many many more such scenes are sure to touch you. Ma's character graph in situations towards the end are very well justified because of what has been shown initially of her situation. Even though it all does not add up to anything by the end, the movie is a good example of why some movies don't need to add up to anything. They were just meant to give a new perspective. Watch this movie to understand that perspective of a mom stuck in a room for years and her son whose only world is that room.

Note: I did not mention few more awesome scenes and one particular character only to avoid any spoilers.
