Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Chennai Express - Review

Okay let me start by saying that Chennai Express is not a comedy. It is not even the movie that would transform SRK into an action star over night. It is more of a southern flavored action movie the whole Bollywood is after these days. Only change is there is even some Southern language, Tamil, spoken in the movie. And yes SRK speaks Tamil too. Rohit Shetty somehow seems out of touch with the subject and as always he lifts few scenes. This time from Telugu movie Okkadu. It is SRK who saves Chennai Express, not with his romance or action but his comedy antics which his fans thoroughly enjoyed in OSO, Baadshah, K3G, Main Hoon naa etc. Deepika goes a little bit overboard with her accent but she is brilliant as eye candy. Rest of the cast are adequate. Southern India is depicted pretty beautifully in this movie especially Titli song and Satyaraj intro. Movie is decent paced in first half but second half is a bit dragged with few unwanted scenes and out of situation songs. The climax is definitely not on par with Rohit Shetty action episodes. No cars in the air!!!
Overall Chennai Express is strictly for SRK fans and the audience that made Wanted, Son of Sardar, Rowdy Rathore, Ready and Singham, hits. But for rest I advise you against going to theaters. Wait for DVD.

PS: Movie is watchable with kids.
