Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Mirchi

                     Post Rebel, it was about time Prabhas proved his credibility, fan following and star image. And unfortunately Mirchi is not completely there yet. Mirchi is an out and out routine commercial cinema with elements like faction, revenge, family melodrama, peace preaching, father-son differences, uniting two families, uniting two villages, hero from one village-heroine from other, hero-heroine as long separated bava maradallu and most importantly a paralyzed person becoming healthy after 20 years solely by peace preaching. And the last point was my threshold. Up until then it was an average fare. Surprisingly the director tried comedy with just two actors in this instead of whole battalion but then the comedy is very routine and less. Songs were good in audio but picturisation took a beating. Kaatuka kallanu is the best while Yahoon yahoon is at least ok and Darlingey is a huge disappointment. The good part of the movie is the flashback and the best is the pelli fight with the following scenes. Rest of the fights lacked freshness and emotional backing. Anushka had a bubbly role and looked a bit chubby. She was her best in Kaatuka kallanu song. Richa had a tiny role thankfully. Coming to Prabhas, he has an amazing screen presence with decent acting and pretty good dancing but with a flawed and not-improving language(both Telugu and English).It's not about the "ucharana" because disappointingly not many Telugu heroes have that. Problem with Prabhas is that his punctuation is all messed up. I had trouble following his lengthy dialogues. "Mana kosam entha mandhi chavalanukuntunnaru anedhi kaadu peddarikam, alaa chaavalanukune vallalani bathikinchukovadam lone undhi mana peddarikam" A very good dialogue if uttered with proper pauses and punctuations. I would have expected a dialogue writer turned director Siva take care of such things but he did not.
                    Finally, if you are a Prabhas fan and did not miss Rebel then take your chance with this as well but for the rest read the lines above and please decide for yourself.
