Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum(KVJ) - Review

"Surajyamavaleni swarajyamendhukani", "Ardha sathabdhapu agnaanaanni swathanthram andhaama, swarnotsavaalu chedhaama", "Jagamanta kutumbam naadhi" and now "Jaruguthunnadhi jagannatakam". Frankly only song that was well justified was in Sindhooram. No other movie came even close to what Guruvugaaru Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry gaaru intended. Gaayam was a remake of God Father, Chakram Kal ho na ho and now KVJ a tribute to Rana and family. These three movies wasted 3 great literary works and KVJ also wasted one of the Mani Sharma's best works. Director Krissh has heavy inspiration from world cinema and it is evident in all his movies. In KVJ, as soon as Annapurna says "Chaala dhooram parugethaanu" it immediately reminded me of Kungu Fu Panda 2 and the whole story of KVJ sounded so similar. Rana is the panda while the Furious Five are very very ineptly adapted as Dasavathaarams. The song Jaruguthunnadhi Jagannatakam is depicted okay for first two avatars. Especially the second one, when Rana is picking up ashes, was so brilliant. But that's it, it stops there. The way Rama's lines were used look so childish. It is a GREAT concept. No second opinion on that but the focus should have been more on that than the Rana's presentation. Rana for a change in one of the scenes acted pretty well. I should admit he suited the role. If only Krissh had given him better one, movie would have been much much better. The villian's character is the biggest comedy of the movie. Why do you need two item songs in such a movie? But Nayan was refreshing as "eye" candy in a glamorous role after a break. From Gamyam to Vedam to KVJ, I see the decline. Hope Super Star's Shivam will be good. My biggest disappointment is that one of the greatest Telugu songs ever is WASTED.
