Gunjan Saxena - Movie Review
Sometimes the distant you are from a point the better job you can do in depicting it. May be that is what helped Sharan Sharma, the director, to do an honest job on depicting the story of Gunjan Saxena and hurdles in her way for being a woman and yet not sounding even a little bit feminist. That is what makes this movie a winner for me.
Gunjan Saxena is a very very(mind the two verys) honest movie on Gunjan Saxena's story. The movie does not even try to grab sympathy for Gunjan's role. Instead at every moment it inspires. And thats why each viewer is bound to love this movie.
Coming to performances, the lead Janhvi rises up to the occasion and delivers. She looked middle class not just by her looks but by her expressions, body language and emotions. And given the very little scope of overdoing any emotion by the director, she excels in subtlety. Next comes, Pankaj Tripathi. I liked him in many of his roles earlier. But this time I loved him. You all will love him too. That scene with Gunjan in kitchen..."Love you Mr. Pankaj Tripathi". That scene could have gone wrong with a bad actor or an over achieving actor. But Pankaj knows exactly the right amounts and he delivers precisely that.
The movie production design is authentic and the entire technical crew lines up behind the director's vision and gives us a very good emotional cute story of Gunjan Saxena.
More than anything, watching this movie is satisfying.
