The subject of Strength of Materials deals with concepts like Modulus of Elasticity and Yield Strength. The basic difference between Modulus of Elasticity and Yield Strength is that Modulus of Elasticity is a number that measures an object or substance's resistance to being deformed elastically (i.e., non-permanently) while Yield Strength is the number that defines the lowest stress point at which permanent deformation can be measured. Don't be confused, this is still Nani's Krishnarjuna Yudham review. I wanted at least my review to fill in for the lack of novelty or variety in the movie and this is very much relevant concept too.
Nani had 8 hits till now of which some were good movies while few were forgettable but worked at the box office only due to the goodwill Nani earned from the Telugu Audience. Somewhere along the time of release of Nenu Local, Nani came close to the Modulus of Elasticity that could deform the goodwill he earned up until then. But fortunately, he reduced the stress/strain ratio when he followed it up with an adorable movie "Ninnu Kori". But he again touched the Modulus of Elasticity with MCA. And the movie that came after that is Krisharjuna Yudham(KAY). Unfortunately with KAY, Nani hits the Yield Strength and this will put a dent in the goodwill he earned.
Kay lacks from any novelty. Every scene leaves you with a feeling of Deja Vu after watching so many similar commercial movies. Nani did not fit in the role of Playboy Rockstar and that is clearly evident through out and when he tries Nadaan Parindey with Urime Manase, it becomes crystal clear. I could hear a female fan sitting behind me saying "He does not suit in such negative roles" when Arjun was introduced in playboy role. Frankly I want him to suit in such roles but he needs more homework for that. He nails it totally in Krishna's role with Chittoor accent. That is the only relief in the movie. In Awe he produced a movie full of leading ladies but alas the ladies in his movies are reduced to mere love interests. Be it Sai Pallavi in MCA or Anupama in KAY. Anupama's styling is very good though and if only it was accompanied by a good role, she could have done wonders. The music is good in some elevation scenes but rest of the times it sounds so out of place. Cinematography is top notch and it pains to see all that effort go down the drain on a story that is predictable and a treatment that is so underwhelming.
Overall, Krishnarjuna Yudham is that movie with which Nani touched the "Yield strength" of the goodwill he earned till date and so it is going to break now along with his hit streak.
