After watching the first part of Bahubali, the question that haunted the nation was "Why Kattappa killed Bahubali?". But deep down we all knew where the movie was heading and how it will end too including where exactly Bhalladeva is going to die and who will kill him. If you are in the group who have no idea of what I am saying, I will suggest you watch or read Mahabharatha and Ramayana.
But the real reason why everyone need to watch Bahubali 2 is because Rajamouli is capable of much more than what he showcased in part one. His movies emotional highs are to die for. Be it Sye or Simhadri or Vikramarkudu or Magadheera or Chatrapathi. That was a bit missing in part one. The good news is that, even though the story is a cliched one, the emotional highs you get in this movie are whistle worthy. I can list few of them here like introduction of Prabhas, introduction of Anushka, the court scene of Anushka, the war episode in Devasena's kingdom and coronation scene. Trust me these are more than worth your money.
What I really appreciate in this movie is that the makers are not in awe of the graphics work. They just use it to enhance viewer's experience. What drives this movie is the very efficient direction of Rajamouli.
Unlike part one, Prabhas is a delight to watch in this one. Scenes were made, cameras were placed, bgm was added and action was choreographed to highlight why he is best built hero of Telugu cinema. Anushka on the other hand looks great in few important scenes and okay in rest while the proceedings justify the change. You can just watch the movie for the scene in the above picture. Audience will be surely blown away by that. Ramya Krishna again steals the show. Rest of the cast are okay. Subbaraju is in a important role and he does good too.
Rajamouli had taken into consideration all the criticism he faced in the first part for the item song and the Tamannah-Prabhas romance scene. In this movie, the women are shown beautifully and respectfully even more than the men.
The movie starts off slow and on a lighter note but by the interval block, it reaches a peak and the audience adrenaline rush will know no bounds. Second half too proceeds in the same flow until the flashback is done.
And like the shadows on moon and drishti chukka on a beautiful face, the climax takes a dip. In an in-explainable way, the climax looks both rushed and dragged. I feel a little bit more care should have been taken about the last 30 minutes of the most important film of India and the audience's most expensive(ticket prices wise) movie. Everyone did cut slack for part one and turned a blind eye for few minor things. In the same flow this can also be excused as the only drawback of the film and if possible can be trimmed down a little.
Overall, Bahubali makers made sure that it would be the biggest money spinner ever and so it will be. Go watch it but remember to cut some slack for the last 30 minutes. It's more than worthy until then.
