Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Edge of Tomorrow - Review

Tom Cruise is back and this time, no not with another installment of MI but with a genius plot in an alien invasion movie. At the outset, EOT is just like War of the Worlds. It is all about how Tom Cruise saves the world from Aliens. But the story is many many notches above Steven Spielberg's story. If you assume that the trailer had shown you everything the movie had to offer, you are wrong. Watch the movie and have your brains blown out. Ok I agree, it is too much of an exaggeration.
The makers came up with a good script and gave it is so much of humor than keeping it serious. Tom Cruise for a change has to underplay his star persona and he does it well. Emily Blunt, acting with Tom for the first time, has to play the boss and she does it with ease. She personifies her title(FMB) given in the movie perfectly. Besides the sci-fi plot the second best thing about the movie is it's humor mixed narration. Watch this movie, if you are a sci-fi fan or Cruise fan or Emily Blunt fan or Alien genre fan or a good movie fan, because this is one of those movies which would stay on top of any of the above mentioned fan lists.
